Spider-Man is the star (and sometime guest star) of an ever-expanding series of movies, that cover both live-action and animation. And with new films arriving in regular succession it can often be difficult to keep track of what movies he is in and which movies you might like to watch.
Ever wondered what Spider-Man movie to watch next? Well, don’t worry, you are not alone.
In this post I am providing some movie suggestions to help steer you through the films. It doesn’t matter if you like adventurous Spider-Man movies or unusual Spider-Man movies, this post can point you towards a Spider-Man film that is right for you!
_________
Fun Spider-Man

If you like Spider-Man movies that are quirky and a little off-the-wall, then you need a Spidey film that is fun. The best suggestion here is for you to dive head first into Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an animated adventure which focuses on the Spider-Man multiverse – a collection of universes featuring different Spider-Men/Women. The film features great animation, an excellent voice cast, a brilliant soundtrack, and an engaging and empowering story.
And if you like this movie, then be sure to check out: Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload (2013)
_________
Dark Spider-Man

So, you want something a little darker, do you? OK, well then how about Spider-Man 3 (2007)?
In this live-action tale Peter Parker becomes infected by a parasitic alien lifeform, which completely alters his mood. Instead of a Parker who can see the lighter side of life, a brooding Parker takes over, with a black suit to match.
If a Spider-Man story with an edge sounds like the Spider-Man film for you, then you should also watch: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
_________
Action adventure Spider-Man

Sometimes action adventure is what you really crave and if that is the case then you should give Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) a go.
The film follows Peter Parker as he travels on a European vacation with his school mates. Here he crosses paths with Mysterio, leading to some impressive action scenes as Spidey battles his mysterious foe.
If you like what you see here, then you should also try: Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
_________
High school Spider-Man

Hmm… you like your Spider-Man stories set when the character was still in high school, do you? Well, then you need to head straight into Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) – a Spider-Man story set entirely around Peter Parker’s high school life.
In this film, Spidey faces off against the Vulture, while receiving some guidance from Iron Man.
And if you like this movie, then you should check out: The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
_________
Less Spider-Man more villain

Not every Spider-Man movie features Spider-Man. If movies that focus on the bad guys are more your thing, then you should try Venom (2018) – a film that includes no references to Spider-Man.
Venom is an origin story revolving around Eddie Brock (as played by Tom Hardy). In this tale, Brock bonds with an alien lifeform to become an anti-hero.
And if you like films that favour an iconic bad guy, perhaps you should try: Spider-Man 2 (2004)
_________
A simpler time Spider-Man

Big budgets and fancy suits are great and all, but sometimes you just want to kick back to a much simpler time. That time is the late 1970s, when Spider-Man appeared in his first movie – Spider-Man (1977).
Nicholas Hammond plays the role of Spider-Man in a low-budget, TV-to-cinema adventure. If you like your super heroics on the downlow, then this is the one for you.
And if you like this, then check out: Spider-Man Strikes Back (1978)
_________
Unusual Spider-Man

If you wish to watch something a little out of the ordinary, then you need to try Spider-Man (1978). Spider-Man aka Supaidāman is a short ‘film’ (around 24 minutes) based around a live-action Japanese television show.
It is most certainly unique amongst the Spider-Man film series. There is simply nothing quite like this.
And if you like this movie, then forgo the Spidey films completely and give the entire Japanese Spider-Man television series a go!
_________
Spider-Man team-up

And finally, if you want to see Spider-Man in a team-up tale (and who doesn’t?), then you are best seeking out the Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man’s first appearance in the MCU was in Captain America: Civil War (2016), where he joined Team Iron Man to face-off against some of Marvel’s mightiest heroes.
And if you like Spider-Man movies featuring many, many heroes, then check out: Avengers: Endgame (2019)
