Across the course of its 65-episode run, Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994 – 1998) featured a plethora of iconic Marvel characters, from Wolverine and Black Cat, to Captain America and War Machine.
Amongst the mix was Morbius the living vampire – a popular horror character who appeared in multiple episodes across the course of the series. During his stint on the show, Morbius featured in a short story arc, as well as in a few additional episodes, putting in a memorable turn along the way.

Every Morbius episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series in chronological story order
Below is a list of every episode of Spider-Man: The Animated Series featuring Dr. Michael Morbius. In total, the character appeared in nine episodes, presented here in chronological order.
- Episode 14 – The Insidious Six
- Episode 15 – Battle of the Insidious Six
- Episode 19 – Morbius
- Episode 20 – Enter the Punisher
- Episode 21 – Duel of the Hunters
- Episode 22 – Blade, the Vampire Hunter
- Episode 23 – The Immortal Vampire
- Episode 47 – The Awakening
- Episode 48 – The Vampire Queen
Morbius’ journey in Spider-Man: The Animated Series began in the two-part story, The Insidious Six / Battle of the Insidious Six aka episodes 14 and 15 of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. Here Morbius appeared as a background character who was not part of the main story.
After taking a minor role for these two episodes, Morbius returned for a more substantial role, kicking off with episode 19, Morbius. His appearances continued with episode 20 Enter the Punisher, episode 21 Duel of the Hunters, episode 22 Blade, the Vampire Hunter, and episode 23 The Immortal Vampire.
These five episodes form a story arc, which detail Morbius’ transformation from a human into a vampire. Some of the episodes are loose adaptations of The Amazing Spider-Man #101, #102, #129, and Marvel Fanfare #2, and all are key episodes for Morbius’ journey in Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
Following the conclusion of episode 23, Morbius was mostly written out of the series, as his arc had come to an end. However, the character returned for two additional appearances in episodes 47 The Awakening and 48 The Vampire Queen.
Following the conclusion of episode 48, Morbius was retired from the series. The character was not killed off, but his story had come to an end.
Should you wish to revisit Morbius’ story in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, I recommend you watch all the episodes above, but specifically focus on episodes 19 to 23. All five of these episodes appear in the show’s second season and are the stories which place Morbius in the spotlight.
