From the moment Spider-Man first appeared in comics, he has been surrounded by an awesome collection of villains. Many of these foes were introduced in quick succession during the 1960s, but many more have come along since.

From Mysterio and Kraven, to the Lizard and Mr. Negative, each villain brings something different to the Spider-Man mythology. But when did they make their debut?

As you can see from the list above, many of Spidey’s most vile villains originated in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man – with a good number appearing between 1962 and 1969. This is initial run of The Amazing Spider-Man was incredibly successful when it came to introducing strong villains.
