In 1986, Howard the Duck took to the big screen to become the first Marvel Comics hero to appear in a big budget, feature-length, motion picture. Directed by Willard Huyck, the film – appropriately titled Howard the Duck – starred Ed Gale, Chip Zien, Lea Thompson, Tim Robbins, and Jeffrey Jones, and told of Howard’s adventures on Earth.
Howard the Duck wasn’t a huge hit when it made its debut, but over the years it has developed a loyal following. Fans adore the fantasy elements, love to champion the titular hero, and enjoy the film’s use of comedy and memorable dialogue.
