In this post I am looking at the ratings of the Spider-Man movies. I am highlighting the film classifications/ratings of each movie, beginning with the 1977 TV-to-cinema release, Spider-Man.

Spider-Man movies come in all shapes and styles, from live-action to animation. Some of these movies are suitable for very young audiences, while others are best viewed by teenagers and up.

To ensure you find the right Spider-Man movie for you and your family I am listing the Spider-Man movies alongside their appropriate ratings for both UK and US audiences. For UK audiences I will be referring to the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) for the rating, while for the US I will refer to the ratings set out by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

For ease of use, here is the BBFC’s film ratings system:

  • U – Suitable for all
  • PG – Parental guidance
  • 12A – Cinema release suitable for 12 years and over
  • 12 – Video release suitable for 12 years and over
  • 15 – Suitable only for 15 years and over
  • 18 – Suitable only for adults

And the MPAA’s ratings system:

  • G – General audiences
  • PG – Parental guidance suggested
  • PG-13 – Parents strongly cautioned
  • R – Restricted
  • NC-17 – No one 17 and under

Any film carrying a NR classification in this post means it is not rated.
